James 4:17
"So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."
There’s a quiet kind of conviction that lives in the space between knowing and doing.
Not every challenge in life is about choosing between good and evil. Sometimes, it's about choosing between comfort and conviction. We often know the right thing to do whether it’s speaking up, letting go, showing grace, or simply staying disciplined but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
James 4:17 reminds us that obedience isn’t just about avoiding sin, but also about acting when God puts the right thing in front of us. Ignoring His nudge, staying silent when we should step up, or delaying when we’re called to move; that’s where compromise begins.
In golf, a player knows when to take the safe shot vs. the risky one. Wisdom isn’t just knowing your options, it’s choosing what’s best, even if it’s harder in the moment.
This week, ask yourself:
-
Is there something God’s been prompting you to do?
-
Are you delaying a decision you know is right?
-
Are you letting fear or comfort get in the way of obedience?
Faith isn’t passive. It’s active. It moves. And when we walk in obedience—even when it’s uncomfortable we position ourselves to grow, to lead, and to be used by God in ways we never imagined.
Keep walking. Keep doing what’s right. Even when it’s hard, especially when it’s hard.
